The Office of Educational Opportunities supports schools by providing high quality learning options for students to access middle and high school courses outside of current school offerings, schedules and locations.

Middle and High school students access virtual blended courses in eLearning to:

  • Accommodate temporary time away from their zoned school

  • Expand their range of courses and opportunities.

  • Accommodate schedules that prevent them from taking a course when it is offered. eLearning classes are not self-paced.  Classes follow BCPS pacing.  Therefore students can enter and exit eLearning classes as needed.

While enrolled in an eLearning class students will:

  • Interact with the teacher, classmates, and instructional materials through online course tools including the Schoology Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Meet virtually with their teachers and classmates during regularly scheduled times

  • Work independently through learning activities and seek help from the teacher when needed

  • Complete assignments on time. Late assignments may affect marking period grades.

Student progress and grades are determined by students' demonstrated understanding through independent assignments and successful participation in whole group, small group, and individual activities with the teacher.

Please contact your school counselor for enrollment information.
