COVID-19 Leave

Effective Monday, May 8, 2023, Office of Employee Absence and Risk Management will no longer manage the COVID-19 Leave Process. 

 

The new process is as follows:

  • Administrators will be responsible for approving their employees’ request for COVID-19 Leave and submitting that approval to the Office of Payroll.
  • All employees must copy their immediate supervisor on their email to [email protected] [Office of Health Services] when reporting their positive COVID-19 test result.
  • All employees must provide their positive results documentation to their administrators.
  • Administrators will review the submitted documentation to ensure that it is for the employee and contains the employee’s full name and date of positive test result.
  • Administrators will use the isolation dates provided by [email protected] to code their employees absent using Absence/Vacancy Code 61 – Approved COVID Leave.
  • TABCO and CASE employees who use SMARTFINDEXPRESS (SFE) to submit their leave will enter Absence/Vacancy Code the Absence/Vacancy code 61 – Approved COVID Leave.

 

The below requirements are still in place:

  • Positive test results must be reported to the Office of Health Services first.
  • Proof of a positive test result must contain the employee’s full name and date of positive test result. Provider Notes must be on letterhead, signed, and dated by the medical provider stating employee is COVID positive and date of positive test result.
  • The number of COVID-19 Leave approvals for employees will remain at two (2) occurrences within the fiscal year – which ends June 30, 2023.
  • Each approval occurrence will remain at a maximum of 5-days – based upon the isolation dates provide by [email protected].
  • Employees are expected to report to work after their 5-day isolation period ends. Employees who do not return to work after their isolation period will remain subject to EAMP or IDM monitoring.
  • Employee confidentiality will remain priority.
  • COVID Leave is for the BCPS employee only.
