New Educator Orientation 2024

NEO 2024 will occur on August 12, 2024 – August 15, 2024. Registration information will be provided to new hires through the onboarding process.

Monday, August 12, 2024
System Orientation

Begin your orientation by participating in system orientation professional growth activities at New Town High School . This day of learning will include sessions on the following:

• District Leadership Welcome
•Becoming an Equitable Practitioner
•Becoming a Highly Effective Educator 
•Social Emotional Learning Stratiegies to Support a Positive Classroom Climate

Tuesday, August 13, 2024
School-Based Orientation

Continue your orientation by participating in professional learning activities led by school leadership. Be sure to contact your principal to get the agenda. 

Wednesday and Thursday, August 14-15, 2024
Content and Curriculum Orientation

•  Elementary Teachers will meet at Rossville Elementary.
•  Secondary Teachers and Special Area Teachers PreK-12 (Music, Dance, Physical Education, Library Media, Visual Arts, and World Language) will meet at New Town High School.
• Nurses, Social Workers, School Counselors, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Staff Development Teachers will meet at Cockesville Middle.

The content is based on your position and may include:

• Accessing curriculum and resources
• Scope and Sequence
• Lesson and Unit Planning
• Assessment
• Grading and Reporting

BCPS’ newly hired; 10-month educators will receive a stipend of at least $38.62/hour for attendance.

Registration will open in June, and new educators who wish to attend must register. Additional information about the event will be emailed to all registered participants during the summer.
