Autism Waiver Program

WHAT IS THE MARYLAND HOME AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES WAIVER FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER?

The Autism Waiver, a Maryland Medical Assistance program, allows eligible children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to receive services in the home and in the community. This waiver is designed to assist with maintaining the child’s safety, increasing the independence of the child, reducing maladaptive behaviors, and improving the lives of families.

Due to the high demand for the Autism Waiver and a defined number of slots, the waiver is currently full. Families interested in services through the Autism Waiver Program should call the registry at 1-866-417-3480 to have your child placed on the wait list. At this time there is approximately an 8-year waiting period.
