Back To School Involves You Too - On The Road

Whether you're a student, a teacher, a community member or a business partner, you can help us gear up for the school year!  Each and every member of Team BCPS is  important to the success of our school system and in the education of every child. The quality of our schools impact everyone in the BCPS community.

“On the first day of school, quite a few of my students arrived with nothing more than themselves. Others brought backpacks with only a pencil or two.” That’s what teacher Kelly L. Nyman of Riverview Elementary School had to say, but teachers across the county make similar reports.

Why our school supply drive needs your participation

That is why The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools started an annual school supply drive a few years ago. And this year, every day more and more businesses and community organizations are signing on to give and/or collect needed supplies.

“We deeply appreciate the generosity of our community and business partners,” said Interim Superintendent Verletta White. “The school supplies that community members and businesses collected last year made a difference for students in more than 400 classrooms. School supplies can cost families more than $100 dollars per child, and across Baltimore County, that can be a struggle for many of our families. About half of our students are eligible for free and reduced-price meals.”
