Office of Temporary Services Staffing

The Office of Temporary Services in the Department of Human Resources is responsible for administering all applicable employment processes and laws for Baltimore County Public Schools’ curriculum and instructional related contractual, temporary, and substitute employees. The services of these employees provide our school system the opportunity to continue a quality education program when additional staffing is needed and/or when staff members are absent.

Additionally, the Office of Temporary Services:

  • Manages the automated substitute teacher calling system called SmartFindExpress (SFE).
  • Responds to questions regarding appropriate rates of pay for curriculum and instructional related temporary/substitute/contractual assignments.
  • Determines employee eligibility for summer school and/or curriculum workshop employment.
  • Approves employment for assigned employee groups.
  • Represents BCPS at unemployment hearings for assigned employee groups.

The office of temporary services is moving to a new applicant tracking system!  Beginning June 13, 2017, applications for temporary and contractual positions will be accepted using the Frontline Education Applicant Tracking system.  All interested candidates should apply using the online application link on the RESOURCES menu.

If you submitted an application prior to June 13, 2017 and have been offered and accepted a position with BCPS, your current application will be processed.

Beginning August 1, 2017 any person that did not submit an application using the Frontline Education Applicant Tracking system will need to complete a new application to move forward with temporary or contractual employment with BCPS.
