Office of Equity and Cultural Proficiency

Vision Statement: Baltimore County Public Schools is committed to creating, sustaining, and investing in a culture of deliberate excellence for every student, every school, and every community. The Office of Equity and Cultural Proficiency (ECP) promotes systems of structure and support for BCPS students, teachers, and other stakeholders in which equity and fairness are embedded in all areas of our academic, social, and cultural programs.

Functions of the Office of Equity and Cultural Proficiency: The Office of Equity and Cultural Proficiency partners with stakeholders to create instructional environments that support academic rigor, access, cultural relevance, and relationships that ignite the potential of each and every student as the norm. ECP works to build the capacity of leaders to create inclusive environments that honor every student's ability, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, language, and sexual orientation, thus ensuring every student is skilled and able to be globally competitive in a culturally rich society and macro economy.
The Office also monitors compliance with the State of Maryland's Education That Is Multicultural Regulations and provides a professional library for teachers and staff of BCPS related to schools, the classroom, multicultural education, and diversity issues.
