On Friday, May 15, Timber Grove Elementary School celebrated “Brain Day.” In support of National Brain Tumor Awareness Month, students and staff wore gray and raised money for the National Brain Tumor Society through the sale of T-shirts. Students also participated in Brain Day activities that challenged all areas of the brain. The games and relays focused on memory, coordination, movement, trivia, problem solving, and teamwork.
This day was held in honor of a staff member, Lisa Siegel, who struggles with the effects of a brain tumor. Her talk to the Grade 5 students reminded everyone that life doesn’t always go your way, but that you must get up and keep going.
