Schools For The Future
Relief Strategies Update in the Southwest Area

At its meeting on December 19, 2017, the Board of Education of Baltimore County approved new elementary school boundaries for schools in the Southwest Area of the county to accommodate the construction of the replacement Lansdowne Elementary School and help relieve persistent overcrowding at Baltimore Highlands Elementary School.  During this meeting, the Board accepted the boundary committee’s recommended Option A, effective for the 2018-2019 school year.

A map and data table of the approved boundary change can be found at the links below:

Schools affected by the boundary change include:

  • Baltimore Highlands Elementary School
  • Lansdowne Elementary School

Boundary Change Implementation

Students whose homes are zoned to a new school as a result of the boundary change decision will move when the new boundaries are effective for the 2018-2019 school year.
Families will be notified in March 2018 regarding how the new boundaries may affect them.

Boundary Study Committee and Recommendation
